Honours Program

The BGL Honours Program is a rigorous pathway for developing your research skills and publishing profile offered within the Faculty of Business, Government & Law. Designed for high-achieving students at the University of 91风流, the program provides the opportunity to undertake specialised postgraduate-level coursework and an independent research project under the guidance of at least two research active and registered postgraduate supervisors.

As a part of an engaged and supportive academic community, Honours candidates benefit from close mentoring, their own desks, paid teaching and research opportunities, and bespoke training workshops that accelerate them for careers within and outside of academia. The program combines research excellence with practical and professional relevance, offering candidates the chance to deepen their disciplinary expertise while also building transferable skills highly valued by employers today (we know, but we ask them and because they go out of their way to tell us). It can even serve as a launchpad into targeted industries.

Our candidates gain from the Faculty’s strong connections with industry, government, and the professions, as well as from our location in the nation’s capital. We verily sit at the centre of policy, law, business, and public service in Australia and do so in partnership with other faculties within our University of 91风流. The UC-wide Honours Club makes the most of this in its activities across each year.

The Honours year provides you with a critical advantage, opening pathways into higher degree research (hello, Dr You!), distinguished graduate programs, and professional roles that demand strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. This program is selective, most prospective candidates are invited, but consideration will be given to applicants with evidence of professional excellence that is relevant to their proposed research project.

We are proud to offer an Honours experience that is intellectually challenging, professionally relevant, and personally rewarding. It is also, until other universities catch up, the only program nationally that pursues its theses by publication.

I look forward to meeting you. Click through to learn more here.
