Artificial intelligence
Assignments 1 and 2: Students are not permitted to use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in assessments for this unit, except for Studiosity Writing Feedback Plus.
Assignment 3: Students are permitted to use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) as indicated in the assessment instructions for this unit, as well as Studiosity Writing Feedback Plus.
GenAI may only be used in authorised ways when completing assessments at UC. This means that GenAI can only be used for an assessment when:
- the Unit Convener has authorised GenAI use for that assessment
- the student uses GenAI in the way that the assessment instructions allow
- the student fully acknowledges their use of GenAI, with proper citations, references and a GenAI Acknowledgement Statement in line with the assessment instructions.
Where the assessment instructions do not specifically state that GenAI may be used and how, then its use is not permitted for that assessment. Students must still provide the required GenAI Acknowledgement Statement to indicate whether GenAI has or has not been used in the preparation of the assessment. If unsure, students should seek advice from the Unit Convener.
The Library Guide provides further information, including how to .
If there are concerns that you have used generative AI improperly, the convener will investigate this and may ask you to participate in a to check that what you have submitted is your own work. You may also be asked to submit other documents (e.g. notes, drafts or AI prompts/outputs), so it is important you keep a record of all the materials you use to produce your assignment. Turnitin's AI score will be checked for all written assignments. If the score is high it may be used as one source of evidence (but not the only one) for an academic misconduct referral. However, as long as you familiarise yourself with and follow the assignment instructions carefully, you should be fine.
Cadmus
Use of the platform is required for the written components of this unit. If you do not use Cadmus (or use it minimally) without a valid reason, your assignment may be marked down. If there is evidence to suggest that the work you have submitted is not entirely your own, failure to use Cadmus in accordance with the assignment instructions could constitute a ground for academic misconduct.
Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.
Academic integrity involves the ethical, honest and responsible use, creation and sharing of information. It is critical to the quality of higher education. Our academic integrity values are honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage.
UC students have to complete the annually to learn about academic integrity and to understand the consequences of academic integrity breaches (or academic misconduct).
UC uses various strategies and systems, including detection software, to identify potential breaches of academic integrity. Suspected breaches may be investigated, and action can be taken when misconduct is found to have occurred.
Information is provided in the , , and University of 91风流 (Student Conduct) Rules 2023. For further advice, visit Study Skills.
Participation requirements
Participation in all workshops during the semester is strongly encouraged as this will help you to make the most of the experience and pick up helpful tips on how to complete your assignments effectively and efficiently.
Participation is a required component of the crisis response negotiations in weeks 11 and 12.
Required IT skills
You will need to record and save audio files for assignment 1.
You will need to learn how to use the Cadmus platform if you're not already familiar with it. The platform is quite straightforward (similar to Google Docs).
Please contact the IT Service Desk or your convener if you encounter any IT issues.
