Graduating students’ work celebrated at FADX 2025 exhibition

Elly Mackay

13 November 2025: The creative works of graduating students from the Faculty of Arts and Design are on display this week, as part of the annual FADX exhibition held in Building 7.

The exhibition, opened last night, features the projects of students within the architecture, visual communication, industrial design, visual arts and interior architecture disciplines.

The event is student-led, with everything from the physical displays to the marketing developed, driven, and implemented by students.

“Our graduating students have, throughout their studies, produced high-quality works that have prepared them for the practical aspects of the workforce and allowed them to hone their skills in their respective fields,” said Professor Julian Knowles, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design.

“FADX  is the culmination of that work, as well as a celebration of the growth and learning they have undergone during their time at UC.”

The event, held each year in November, is a significant milestone for students from the Faculty, and one they look forward to inviting their friends and family along to, according to graduating Bachelor of Design student Lily Bilston.

“FADX is a celebration of our final year and a showcase of all our work. It marks a significant milestone, not only in our lives but also in our careers. For some, this has been a three-year degree; for others, it’s been four, five, or even six years of dedication and hard work,” Ms Bilston said.

“This exhibition gives us the chance to celebrate with family, friends, fellow students, staff, and industry professionals.

“The past three years have flown by and seeing the evolution of my skills and development has been incredible. Looking back now and seeing where I started, to where I am now, and the experiences and people I have been able to meet has been so rewarding. I am so proud of everything I have achieved and leave optimistic about the future, thanks to everything that this experience has given me.”

The exhibition also welcomes visitors from local industry and members of the community.

“This exhibition is unique in that many of the industry members visiting are actually UC alumni – which is testament to just how many local creatives this University produces,” Professor Knowles said.

“We are always impressed by the talent and innovation of our students. This is an opportunity for them to show industry and their community exactly what they’ve learned throughout their time here.”
